Forrest Cannon Ross, age 92 of Hope, Arkansas passed away Monday, June 19, 2023 in a local nursing home. He was born October 8, 1930, to Lonnie and Bennie Geralds Ross in Bodcaw, AR.
Forrest was a retired Hope businessman, working many years at Hope Basket Company, James Motor Company, Hope Water & Light and Hope Hardware Company before becoming the owner of Ross Hardware Company and Ross Trucking Company in the early 1980s. Forrest loved being outside, doing yardwork and spending time with his grandchildren.
In July of 1950, Forrest married Evelyn Rosenbaum of Fulton, Arkansas, and they adopted twins Mark and Marilyn in 1965.
Mr. Ross is preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife of 72 years, Evelyn Rosenbaum Ross; two sisters, Nora Lee Ross Raschke and Ula Dean Ross Ferrand, and one brother, Hubert Ross.
He is survived by his children: son Mark Ross (Alicia) of Hope, Arkansas and daughter Marilyn McRoy of Emmet, Arkansas; 12 grandchildren: Marcus Rose (Melissa) of Decatur Illinois; Melinda Rose McKenzie of Hope, Arkansas; Jonathan Ross of Little Rock, Arkansas; Meredith Mendoza (Rey) of Hope, Arkansas; Michael McRoy (Shelby) of Hope, Arkansas; Marty McRoy (Lacy) of Hope, Arkansas; Joshua ‘Josh” Ross of Addison, Texas; Meliah Krumnow (Tyler) of Hope, Arkansas; Monty McRoy (Kaitlyn) of Gurdon, Arkansas; Michaela Scott (Wesley) of Bismarck, Arkansas; Marybeth McRoy of Conway, Arkansas and Melelina McRoy of Prescott, Arkansas; 15 great-grandchildren: Jamie McKenzie, Kristina McKenzie, Felicity McKenzie, Reyanna Mendoza, Rey Mendoza, Jr., Ethan Mendoza, Braxton Krumnow, Eli McRoy, Lillyan Krumnow, Ava McRoy, Olivia McRoy, Waylon McRoy, Owen Krumnow, Ivy Mcroy, and Huntley McRoy; great-great granddaughter: Willow McKenzie and one brother: Gilbert Ross.
Visitation will be from 1:00 to 2:00pm on Thursday, June 22, 2023, at Brazzel/Oakcrest 1001 South Main, Hope, Arkansas 71801
Funeral service will be at 2:00pm at Brazzel/Oakcrest with Rev. Keenan Williams officiating. A private burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
