Ms. Joyce Kay Allison Powell, age 72, met her grandson, Tyler, at Heaven’s gates on the morning of June
14, 2022. Joyce was born on December 18, 1949 in Bartlesville, Oklahoma to Leon Allison and Darlene
Miettunen. She was of the Baptist faith. Joyce moved back to Hope, Arkansas in 2012 to be closer to
her two girls and grandchildren, who her life revolved around.
Joyce is preceded in death by her grandson, Tyler Morrow, two sisters-in-law, Jeanette Allison and Jan
Allison, and her parents.
Joyce is survived by her two daughters, Tracy (Chris) Morrow of Murfreesboro, Arkansas, and Lindsey
(Wade) Townsend of Hope, Arkansas; grandchildren, Abby (Chad) Maloch of Bryant, Arkansas, and
Henry & Allison Townsend of Hope, Arkansas; two brothers, Gary Allison of Edmond, Oklahoma, and
Larry (Maureen) Allison of Picton, New Zealand; nieces & nephews, Sarah Allison-Flores of Edmond
Oklahoma, Collette Allison-Kroukamp (Sean) of Picton, New Zealand, and Matthew Allison of Auckland,
New Zealand; the girls’ father, Jim Powell of Prescott, Arkansas; and very special friends, Fran Buck,
Linda Lockhart, Debbie Malek, Judy Niven and Rebecca Walther.
Joyce worked from her home as a Medical Transcriptionist for Platinum Transcription for many, many
years. She loved going to all four of her grandchildren’s sporting events, and had a passion for cooking,
gardening and reading.
A Celebration of Life will be on Monday, June 20, at Spring Hill Christian Church at 10:00am with Bro.
