Lura Mae Impsom Mitchell

Mrs. Lura Mae Impson Mitchell passed away Friday July 2, 2021 in Texarkana, Texas. Lura Mae was born on July 22, 1933, in Bodcaw to Harlon and Allene Tye Purtle. She attended Laneburg Schools. She married Thompson Impson August 27, 1949 and joined Unity Baptist Church on January 18, 1953, where she was very active serving a number of roles. She worked at Martins Shoe Store for over 20 years, member of Eastern Star, also serving as area coordinator for the March of Dimes in the 1960’s. She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Thompson O. Impson; two brothers, James R. “Jiggs” Purtle, Johnny O. Purtle and sister, Faye Rogers.

Survivors include: husband Hansel “Bud” Mitchell; two daughters, Mary Ella Earle (David) of Fayetteville, Arkansas, Tina Martin (Jackie) of Hope, Arkansas; step children, Diane Hamilton of Grove, Oklahoma, Kelly Mitchell of Hendersonville, Tennessee; brother, Thomas Lynn (T-Bo) Purtle; three sisters, Lucille Beasley, Diann Henson Hastings, Debbie Rosenbaum; one granddaughter, Tessie Shepard (Devin); two great-granddaughters, Rory Jae Shepard, Indy Mae Shephard; numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Unity Baptist Church Building Fund 402 South Hervey St. Hope, Arkansas 71801.

Visitation will be 6:00pm to 8:00pm on Monday July 5, 2021 at BRAZZEL/Oakcrest 1001 South Main St. Hope, Arkansas 71801.

Funeral service will be 2:00pm on Tuesday, July 6, 2021 at BRAZZEL/Oakcrest with Bro. Jay Pollan officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery.
