August 13, 1931 - May 14, 2023

Margaret Hatfield Sengel, age 91, of Spring Hill AR died May 14, 2023.  Mrs. Sengel was born Aug. 13, 1931 in Hope, AR, the third of five girls to Hiram and Winifred Hatfield.

She was a 1949 graduate of Spring Hill High School.  Margaret met her future husband, Harry Sengel, while a student nurse and they married in 1953 after she  graduated from Arkansas Baptist Hospital School of Nursing.  During her nursing career, she served as President of Arkansas State Nurse's  Association and was selected Arkansas Nurse of the Year, 1961.  She retired several times following a nursing career as an  Operating Room Supervisor during which time she attended an International Symposium of Operating Room Nurses in Madrid, Spain and visited Libson, Portugal. As a member of the American Nurses Association she served as a delegate to many conventions including Honolulu, Hawaii and served as President of District Nurses Association in magnolia and El Dorado.  She also graduated from Stephens College with a B.A.

In retirement, she served many years in the local Hope Hospital Auxiliary and also  served on the  Hope-In-Action Board.  She adopted 3 small dogs, providing a good home for Kobie, Maria and Abby.

Margaret is preceded in death by her parents, Hiram and Winifred Ferguson Hatfield; her husband Harry; four sisters, Fern Hatfield Tarpley White, Mary Sue Hatfield Ashton, Louise Hatfield Smith, Mollie Hatfield Stroud, and her daughter Mary Floyd.

She is survived by one daughter Adrienne "Nicky" Webb of Blevins, 4 grandchildren; Lance Aymond, Jonathan Webb, Megan Webb Krantz, and Logan Floyd.  10 great grandchildren, 4 great-great  grandchildren.

Cremation is under the direction of Brazzel-Oakcrest Funeral Home of Hope. In her memory, please adopt a pet.
