Remembering Na’Iyma L. Box
“Nemo”

It was Tuesday, October 3, 1995 when a beautiful baby girl named Na’Iyma Laaiqa Raaida Box was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Ricardo Box and Donna Modisett. Na’Iyma was affectionately called “Nemo” and “Nuk” by her family and friends. Growing up, when she wasn’t playing with her sister and best friend Kariyma, Nemo was active in ballet, piano, soccer and cheerleading. She attended Hope High School in Hope, Arkansas where she was a Bobcat cheerleader for all four years. Na’Iyma went on to graduate from Hope High with the Class of 2014.
Furthering her education, Na’Iyma enrolled at Southern Arkansas University in Magnolia, AR where she did what she loved to do; dance. Nemo later moved to Texarkana, Texas to attend Cosmetology Academy of Texarkana and received her certificate in 2019. Her passion for hair started in middle school. She crossed paths with many and gained friends along her journey of being a hairstylist.

Nemo’s smile could light up any room. She was a comedian at heart and she always welcomed anyone in! Nemo was so open with people; They felt they could do the same around her, and they could. This is why so many people loved her.

Na’Iyma, a native of Hope, AR, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, March 31, 2021 at the age of 25. She will be forever loved. Nemo was preceded in death by: her maternal grandparents, John and Jodie Modisett and her best friend, Alexis Pree. Na’Iyma leaves to cherish her memories: mother, Donna Modisett; father, Ricardo Box; sisters, Kariyma Box and Maliyka Newell; brothers, Michael Modisett, Khaliyl Box and Stacey Modisett; grandmother, Bobbie Broughton; aunts, Sequoiah Modisett, Mary Modisett and Connie McAllister; uncles, Jerome Modisett, Cortez Box, Tony Box, Travis Box, Marzack McAllister and Terow Box; great aunts, Tina Scott, Ann Scott and Tesa Scott; nieces and nephews, Mikiyah, Nilima, Gabe, Michael and Carter; special nieces and nephews, De’Braylia, De’Kobe, Bentlee, Baelee, Rodrea Jr. and Nova “Yaya”; special cousin, “Bird”; dear friend, Lee Kight; best friends, Marie Black, Oceania McCoy, Ashley McCoy, Kyresha McCoy, Marisha Armstrong and Brittney Mitchell; and a host of relatives and friends.
