Rodus James (R.J.) Trevillion of McCaskill Arkansas, gained his heavenly home Thursday April 18, 2024, after a brief illness. R.J. was born on October 25, 1932, to Mattie Sallas and Pete Trevillion, in Houston, TX. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War Conflict. After an honorable discharge from the Army, he met and married the love of his life, Shirley Coleman in 1950. They were married almost 69 years. The couple lived in Houston Texas and later moved to Blevins and McCaskill Arkansas.
R.J. was a welder, loved hunting and fishing and was known for his love of the outdoors, telling story after story of his buddies which could go on for hours. He loved to garden and was known for raising some of the best tomatoes in the area.
He asked Jesus into his heart as a young man. He loved to sing and play his Guitar for his Lord, and often played in church and revivals. He has a beautiful voice. In his later years, when age had affected his ability to play, he still sang to his beautiful bride and to his family.
R.J. was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Thurman Goza and Jerry Sallas, sister Sherry Elder, and son in law Rusty Paul. He is survived by his wife Shirley, a daughter Pam (Louis) Haltom, of Mt. Holly, Arkansas, sons Keith (Tammy) Trevillion of Conway, Arkansas and Brent (Susan) Trevillion of Texarkana, AR. Grandchildren Jason ( Stephanie) Paul, Emiley Paul, John (Mylinda) Haltom, Kayla (Matthew) Hebert, Karson (Courtney) Trevillion, Macy Trevillion, Libby Trevillion, Tonya Davenport and Lee Beth. Great grandchildren Haidin and Garrett Paul, Fred and Shiloh Trevillion, Marion, Abigail, and Elijah Haggard and Eleanor Chambers, sister in law Janette Myrick and Barbara (Victor) Phillips, sister Sandra Randolph and Donald Ray Goza, both of Texas.
In lieu of flowers the family has asked that memorials be made to the Friendship Cemetery c/o Mary Jo Spicer 328 Hempstead 269, McCaskill, Arkansas 71847, and Marlbrook Baptist Church in Blevins Arkansas.
Visitation will be held on Sunday April 21, 2024, at the Brazzel Cornish Chapel at 1:00 PM. Funeral service will start Sunday April 21, 2024, at 2:00 PM in the Chapel. Burial to follow at Friendship Cemetery.
