Pakal, an 18-month Belgian Malinois joins the Task Force Today after he and Handler Hempstead County Deputy Kyle Malone completes training at the Little Rock K-9 Academy. Pakal is a dual-purpose Narcotics Detection, Tracking and Patrol Apprehension K-9.
Pakal was purchased with Drug Seized funds from the 8th North Prosecuting Attorney’s Office. He and Handler Deputy Malone will work closely with the Task force to combat the continuing battle against illegal drugs being transported and sold to our citizens. Pakal will also be utilized in our county schools to deter drugs being brought onto the campuses. In the past we had to rely on the availability of other agencies K-9 units to schedule visits to the county schools, with the addition of Pakal we will have the ability to conduct random checks without having to schedule other agencies K-9 units. Pakal and his handler will be available to any agency in the 8th North Judicial District which includes Nevada and Hempstead Counties.
