Central Arkansas Home Builders Share Supply Chain Woes with Boozman

Senator John Boozman met with members of the Home Builders Association of Greater Little Rock on Wednesday

LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS—U.S. Senator John Boozman (R-AR) is continuing his series of conversations with Arkansas business leaders to learn more about the impact current economic challenges are having on industries in The Natural State. On Wednesday, Boozman met with central Arkansas home builders who shared how historic inflation, supply chain disruptions and the shortage of skilled labor are testing their trade.

Nationwide, homebuilder optimism is sliding as a result of higher costs, scare supplies and lack of access to labor. The National Association of Home Builders reported builder confidence declined this month at the same time as residential construction costs have risen by 21 percent on a yearly basis.

“As a result of President Biden’s reckless tax-and-spending policies hardworking Arkansans are paying higher prices for everything from base boards to bacon. It’s time the administration turn its attention to solving the pocketbook issues people across the country are facing so we can get back to business with predictability and certainty for job creators. That begins with resolving the supply chain crisis,” Boozman said. “Washington must prioritize policies that allow businesses to meet the demands of consumers and abandon the partisan agenda that is making it harder for Americans to get by.”

“With the continual increase in lumber costs and supply chain issues, the Home Builders Association of Greater Little Rock is appreciative of Senator Boozman for continuing to work with us by learning of our issues and challenges related to the home building industry,” said Meredith Townsend, Executive Officer of Home Builders Association of Greater Little Rock.
