Meanwhile, out at the Hub, a few dozen vendors were open for business as kids enjoyed inflatable slides and concessions were served.

At Fair Park was a drive-through horror show, put together by Hope Police Department, Hempstead County Sheriff's Department and Pafford Emergency Medical Service with assistance from Hope's Scout Troop 5, complete with several disturbing scenes that made this reporter think of abandoning his car to the denizens of doom and making a run for it.
