HEAT ADVISORY NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 P.M. CDT TUESDAY

Affected counties:

Sevier, Howard, Little River, Hempstead, Nevada, Miller, Lafayette, Columbia and Union counties in Arkansas; Caddo, Bossier, Webster, Claiborne, Lincoln, Union, De Soto, Red River, Bienville, Jackson, Ouachita, Sabine, Natchitoches, Winn, Grant, Caldwell and La Salle parishes in Louisiana; McCurtain County in Oklahoma; and Red River, Bowie, Franklin, Titus, Camp, Morris, Cass, Wood, Upshur, Marion, Smith, Gregg, Harrison, Cherokee, Rusk, Panola, Nacogdoches, Shelby, Angelina, San Augustine and Sabine counties in Texas.

IMPACTS: Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat-related illnesses.

Precautionary/Preparedness Actions

  • Drink plenty of fluids.

  • Stay in an air-conditioned room.

  • Stay out of the sun.

  • Check on relatives and neighbors.

  • Take extra precautions when outside.

  • Wear lightweight, loose-fitting clothing.

  • Limit strenuous activities to the early morning or evening hours.

  • Take immediate action if you notice symptoms of heat exhaustion or heat stroke.
