Jordan Arrington, NCIDQ interior designer, left, and Holly Vetsch, PE, architecture designer, from WER Architecture in Little Rock, were on campus at Hope High School recently recruiting students interested in architectural or interior design careers. Arrington, a 2012 HHS graduate, said the firm is actively recruiting minority students who may not have previously considered architecture or interior design not knowing some of the pioneers in both fields were Blacks, like Paul R. Williams who designed many iconic homes and buildings in Los Angeles, California. She said of the 1,345 licensed architects in Arkansas, only 9 are Blacks. – Ken McLemore/Hope Public Schools
