SAN ANTONIO – Arkansas soccer (3-2) shutout Eastern Washington (1-5) by a score of 4-0. The Razorbacks outshot the Eagles 31-5 at the UTSA Invitational.
How it Happened
Ava Benedetti netted the first goal for the Hogs, and the first of her career at Arkansas. She scored after a Taylor Malham run down the near side, where Malham passed it to Benedetti, finishing left footed across the net toward the far post.
Three minutes into the second half, a Razorback corner kick led to Goins’ third goal of the season. After a scramble in the box, she finished it off from the top of the six.
Arkansas’ third goal came 28 minutes later, this time by Malham. After a cross by Anna Podojil in the six, Malham netted her third goal of the week.
The Hogs extended their lead nearly two minutes later. Goins chalked up her second of the game after an assist by Kayla McKeon just inside the box.
The Razorbacks had nine corner kicks in the match, taking six in the first half. Arkansas held the Eagles to just one shot in the second half, and one shot on goal for the night.
Hear It From Coach Hale
“First credit to Eastern Washington. I thought they were very hard working. We did win and winning is hard, especially against a good team like EWU.”
