Hope Cross Country Competes in State Meet at Oaklawn
Hot Springs- The Lady Cat and Bobcat XC teams competed in the state meet on Thursday afternoon at Oaklawn Casino and Resort, as over 200 runners in each of the 4A races competed. The guys team finished 10th place overall and the girls finished in 11th, as both were in the top half of the competition.

For the Lady Cats, Esme Leon beat teammate Brianna Maclaughlin by less than a second, as they both finished top-40 out of over 220 runners in the girls event. Ari Juanes was the next Lady Cat in line at 87th, followed by Wendy Hernandez, Crystal Ortiz, Sophia Johnson, Allison Yhoss, Angelica Soto, and Reyna Martinez. The girls had a great season and should be back at it again next year with a lot of returners to be back next year.

The Bobcats were led by Brian Jimenez who was the first of the Hope runners to cross the finish line, followed by Aniell Felipe, as those two have been consistently at the top all season long. Jose Juanes ran a great race Thursday to finish as the 3rd Bobcat, followed by Fabian Aguilar, Gio Ruiz, Nathan Sanchez, Omar Cardona, and Oswaldo Alvarado. The Bobcats finished the season as the 10th best team in the state in 4A and are returning a lot of runners next season as well.
