HOPE – The non-conference rivalry football clash between the Hope Bobcats and the Prescott Curley Wolves set for tonight has been cancelled because of COVID-19.
Hope Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Bobby Hart said he was contacted Thursday night by Prescott Superintendent Robert Poole regarding a COVID-19 issue in Prescott.
“While we regret that this contest will not be played, we understand and support the Prescott administration’s decision to cancel,” Dr. Hart said. “We send our best to the Curley Wolves and hope for a speedy recovery.”
He said the cancellation emphasized the importance of maintaining COVID-19 related protections for all students, parents and staff.
“We should use this cancellation to remind our students, staff and parents to continue to be diligent in our efforts,” Hart said. “Wearing face masks, using social distancing, hand washing and STAYING HOME if you have any symptoms are critical.”
There are currently no plans to re-schedule the non-conference game. The cancellation was initially announced Thursday night at the junior varsity matchup between Hope and Magnolia.
