Friday's game was a track meet as Blevins and SC Christian combined for 141 points. Blevins held a 38-34 lead at halftime after some great shooting from the Hornets who knocked down four three-pointers in the first half. Xavier Bazzelle scored 16 of his 31 points in the opening half.
The third quarter was back and forth as the Hornets would take a 51-48 lead into the fourth quarter. SCC would force some turnovers and score 26 points in the final quarter to pull away late and beat Blevins 74-67. Blevins had two players foul out late in the game and the offense only managed 13 points in the fourth as buckets were hard to come by late. Bazzelle led the way with 31 points for the Hornets. Javier Gomez finished the game with 14 points and Rylee Powell added 13 points for Blevins. Evan Rodriguez added 9 points.
On Saturday, the Hornets faced off against the Ouachita JV team and took care of business, winning 55-49. Blevins took a 33-22 lead into the half and cruised in the second half to a victory. Rylee Powell and Xavier Bazzelle led the way with 15 points each for the Hornets offense. Javier Gomez added 12 points and ran the offense well on Saturday. Evan Rodriguez had 6 points, Jackson Bonner added 5 points, and Kyle Hampton added 2 points.
Blevins is back in action tonight as they travel to Mineral Springs for a key conference matchup.
