The Junior Saints started the day off with a win over Life Christian 25-10, 25-11. Heaven Garcia led the way with seven aces and two kills. Laila Santifer had four aces, Abby Mendoza had two kills, Lexi Crane two aces and one kill, and Blayklee Glass had a kill and an ace.Â
GMCS would then take care of Valley in straight sets, 25-17, 25-12 with Laila Santifer having five aces and two kills. Brailyn Almand and Lexi Crane each had three aces and two kills, with Blayklee Glass having one ace and two kills.Â
GMCS would then take on Mountain Home, as they would capture another win in straight sets 25-21, 25-15. Brailyn Almand had four aces and two kills, Heaven Garcia had three aces and three kills, Savannah Fields had three aces. Lexi Crane had four kills at the net and one ace, while Blayklee Glass had three aces and one kill.Â
The Junior Saints would then face off against Gospel Light in the semifinals, where it would go the distance to a third and deciding set. GMCS would take the final set 15-11 to advance to the State Championship. Laila Santifer had three aces and one kill. Savannah Fields and Brailyn Almand each had two aces and two kills. Heaven Garcia added two aces.Â
GMCS would take on Liberty in the Finals and earn a State title in straight sets 25-20, and an exciting 27-25 clinching set. Savannah Fields had a great game with six aces and two kills. Blayklee Glass and Laila Santifer would each have four aces and two kills. Lexi Crane had another good game with two aces and two kills, with Brailyn Almand and Heaven Garcia each having two kills and one ace. Laila Santifer and Savannah Fields were each named to the All-Tournament team. Congratulations to the Junior Lady Saints on a great season and a State Championship. There is a lot for the GMCS faithful to look forward to in the years to come with this group.Â
