HOPE – The Hope High School Ladycats owned the diamond at Ladycat Yard against Arkadelphia, winning 5-2 here April 2.
Hope’s bats sparked two runs in the first inning with Alyana Martin scoring the baserunners on a single. Annabeth Martin and Gianna Knight came back big for the Ladycats in the sixth inning, scoring three more runs.
The Lady Badgers attempted to rally on a solo homer in the fourth but failed to score again until Arkadelphia put up one run in the seventh inning.
The Ladycats hung tough on the field going error-free as Grace Trauger pitched a complete game for Hope allowing two runs on four hits, while striking out three and giving up no walks.
Hope stands at 5-8 on the season and 2-3 in conference play in a three-way tie at fourth place in the 7-4A South.
The Ladycats take on Foreman at home April 8 at 4:30 p.m. and are back in conference play at Ladycat Yard on April 9 at 4:30 p.m. against Mena.
