Thursday evening, fried fish and chicken and the fixings were served and hundreds lined up from miles around to get their portions at the Hope Fair Park Coliseum.
The Hope Lions Club and Evening Lions Club took advantage of a mild spring day to line up their cookers up under a shed outside and do their magic with their secret batter recipes for catfish and chicken fingers. Also on the menu were coleslaw, french fries and hushpuppies as well as your choice of beverage between lemonade and tea.
At the entrance for the Coliseum, you could choose from several varieties of homemade cookies. Across from the serving line was a long series of tables holding dozens of cakes and other baked goods. These were auctioned.
It was all to raise funds for Hope in Action, a local charity that furnishes temporary shelter and serves meals for those disadvantaged. To judge by the amount of food served and the length of the lines, the day for Hope for Action was successful.
