The Nevada County Quorum met this evening for the May meeting. The recording of the meeting can be watched in the video above. Due to difficulties with internet connection, a few minutes at the start of the meeting are not included, but that info can be found in the highlights below.
After Court members had a brief discussion about financials, Jamie Hillery gave her committee report and informed the Quorum Court about the Ribbon Cutting ceremony for Arkansaw Territory Country Café & Market held that morning in Falcon. Hillery said the café is having great success with their catfish and steaks. She also informed the Court of the Sesquicentennial celebration event will be on June 9th and will include the burial of a time capsule, a guest speaker, a slide show, and more. Hillery also told of the community clean up which will occur on June 1st. She said this is usually a Prescott event, but efforts are being made to make this occur across the county.
Mary Godwin gave an update to Court members and said that paperwork should be coming in soon regarding the second half of the American Rescue Plan money, approximately 801K. Â She said that it should also include a list for what the money can be used.
Debbie Henderson, a nurse administrator from health department, requested from the Quorum Court a consideration to work on their parking lot to make a drive thru. Â She said the health department took care of lots of patients during the pandemic and that the drive thru would make it easier for the community for future issues related to pandemic, as well as flu shots, etc. The Court said they would get other info and consider the request.
The last order of business on the agenda was a request to speak by Don Callicott. He provided materials to Court Members and spoke in detail about a prior request he made the Nevada County Quorum Court regarding the closure of his road, and what he said was the fallout afterward.  Watch Callicott’s full account in the video above.
After Callicott finished speaking, the meeting was adjourned.
