FAYETTEVILLE - The Arkansas Razorbacks announced Wednesday a major men’s basketball opponent upgrade bringing the Conference USA defending champion University of North Texas Mean Green for the second of two exhibition games at Walton Arena.
Small college East Central University of Ada, Okla., 10-9 last season, opposes Arkansas in the first exhibition game at 3 p.m. Sunday at Walton.
UNT, not only winning Conference USA but advancing to the second round of the NCAA Tournament by defeating Purdue of the Big Ten, will oppose Coach Eric Musselman’s coming off an Elite Eight season Razorbacks on Oct. 30 with a 4 p.m. tip-off.
Per NCAA regulations, Arkansas can host an NCAA Division I opponent for an exhibition if the game has a charitable component. A portion of the Arkansas vs. UNT proceeds from concessions and merchandise will go benefit COVID relief efforts via the United Way of Northwest Arkansas.
The Razorbacks officially open their season Nov. 9 hosting Mercer University in a 7 p.m. tip-off at Walton.
