At the Prescott City Council meeting Tuesday evening, which began shortly before 6:30 p.m. at the Senior Adults Center, the city sold some land for $23,000 and heard about the unique diversity of life at the city’s airport and at the Prairie D’Ane battlefield.

The meeting can be seen in its entirety just below this article.

Brad Glass of Park Baptist Church brought a $23,000 offer from the church’s board to purchase land from the city adjacent to the church. The council unanimously approved a motion by City Council member Ivory Curry to make that sale.

After approval of minutes and of the financial report, the Prescott City Council heard a presentation from U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service--Arkansas Ecological Services Field Officer Spencer Weitzel about the number of rare plant species found at the airport as well as a colony of small crayfish only found in Arkansas. He said there will be a controlled burn on the grasslands there in July or August.

Local attorney Rowe Stayton spoke about a campaign by the Rotary Club to mow the yards of elderly low-income residents of the city. He also suggested the organizing of a committee to educate the community on conservation of electricity.

City Council member Curry invited children to attend a Spring Break event at Curry's Community Outreach starting Friday at 3:00 p.m.
