ROGERS  – Day one ofThe Walmart NW Arkansas Championship Presented by P&G has come and gone, and the seven current or former Razorbacks in the event are all through 18 holes. The Razorbacks are led by three of their #ProHogs, as Stacy Lewis (T10), Maria Fassi (T15) and Gaby Lopez (T25) are all sitting in the top-25 after the first round.Â
Lewis played an all-around fantastic round, birdieing six holes while only registering one bogey on the day. The Hog legend comes into the event with the hot hand, having just won the Ladies Scottish Open two weeks ago, and looks to still be in rhythm. Her 66 on day one is tied for her second-best single-round score at the event in her career.Â
Mounting a late charge was Fassi, who played the best single-round of her career at the event with her 67. The 2019 NCAA Champion put on a show coming down the stretch on day one, birdieing four of her last six holes, while notching pars on the other two.
Lopez was consistent all day long, firing five birdies in the round to just two bogeys. Like Lewis and Fassi, Lopez did a lot of her damage on the back, shooting a 32, including a monster birdie putt on 14 to bring her down to three-under on the day.
The top ranked active Razorback on day one was Brooke Matthews, who finished the first round at an impressive one-under (70). After playing three bogeys on the front nine, the redshirt junior Razorback was spotless following the turn, firing all pars other than the birdies she recorded on 11, 12 and 17. After 18 holes, Matthews, who is tied for 65th, leads all amateurs at the event.Â
Following behind Matthews was her teammate Maria Hoyos, who shot a one-over 72 on day one. The senior Hog is currently tied for 122nd at the event. Alana Uriell, another #ProHog making a homecoming in Arkansas this weekend, fired a one-over 72 on day one as well, which was also good for a share of 122nd place. Uriell notched four birdies in the round.Â
Rising sophomore Ela Anacona, meanwhile, fired a four-over 75 on day one in Rogers, and is tied for 147th after the first round. Â
