FAYETTEVILLE - Catrell Wallace, a Bryant High School student and state champion Bryant linebacker signed in December to play football at the University of Arkansas, was arrested Monday morning in Benton in connection with an alleged second-degree sexual assault and alleged tampering.
The alleged assault was reported to have occurred Jan. 1.
Wallace turned himself in Monday morning after an arrest warrant was issued.  He was  released Monday afternoon awaiting further investigation.
Arkansas head football coach Sam Pittman, shortly after becoming the Razorbacks head coach, signing Wallace as a touted recruit to report to the UA’s Fayetteville campus this summer, issued a statement Monday.
“We are gathering information and (are) in contact with the proper authorities regarding the situation,” Pittman said in a statement. “Once we have additional information, we will make a determination on his status with our program.”
