Hope Academy of Public Service EAST instructor Jackie Brady, seated right, the one looking comfortable, retired from public education in May and was prompted “benched” by the faculty and HAPS Principal Dr. Carol Ann Duke, as HPS Superintendent Dr. Jonathan Crossley looked on, with the gift of a custom reminder of her tenure at HAPS. Brady established the innovative project-based EAST program at HAPS and was named the Hope/Hempstead County Chamber of Commerce Educator of the Year in April.

Yerger Middle School Career Development teacher Henry Hale, left, capped 51 years of service in public education this year, largely in the Hope Public Schools, as Hale officially retired from teaching in May. HPS Superintendent Dr. Jonathan Crossley presented Hale with a plaque from the HPS to mark his tenure, which included some folks in the room as his students.

The icing on the cake says it all as Beryl Henry Elementary School art teacher Bonnie Stubber, left, and fifth grade math teacher Cathleen Collins, right, say goodbye at a May gathering of faculty and staff. Mrs. Stubber will retire from teaching, while Ms. Collins will relocate.

Three well-known names at Clinton Primary School have left the roster with their retirements from public education, as first grade teacher Kim Hale, kindergarten teacher Cynthia Reyenga and Dyslexia Interventionist Doris Kesterson were bade farewell by faculty and staff in May. Reyenga is retiring for the second time, having returned to CPS from retirement.
