LITTLE ROCK – Arkansas Attorney General Leslie Rutledge joined a coalition of 23 state attorneys general opposing California’s attempt to curtail the Second Amendment. Attorney General Rutledge is urging the U.S. Supreme Court to strike down a California law that limits magazine capacities and mandates gun owners surrender their magazines that hold more than 10 rounds of ammunition to law enforcement.

“As the mother of a three and a half year old baby girl, I will continue to protect our rights to defend our families from those wishing to do us harm,” said Attorney General Leslie Rutledge. “I will not let anti-gun radicals strip away our Second Amendment rights by banning these commonly used magazines.”

The coalition argues California’s law criminalizes the possession of magazines that hold more than ten rounds of ammunition, which effectively attacks the core of the Second Amendment. A majority of states across the country allow possession of these types of magazines.

Joining Attorney General Rutledge are the attorneys general from Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Ohio, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, West Virginia, and Wyoming.
