Spring Hill Cuts the Ribbon for Campus Addition
The Spring Hill School District held a ribbon cutting this morning to celebrate the grand opening of their new building equipped with annex technology. This structure will replace the old main building on the high school campus and be home to the 7th & 8th grade classes.

Superintendent, Tom Wilson welcomed everyone to the grand opening, saying that the project had been under construction since April 2020 and he was pleased to see it finally come to fruition.

Arkansas State Representative, Danny Watson was in attendance, "This is beautiful. This classroom will be here for years and years. School districts across the state will be envious of this. This is something to be proud of and I am rightfully proud of it," Watson said.

The original plan for the building was for it to be the STEM classrooms, so they had planned to move science, computer science and art in there. Those plans changed a little bit for cost purposes and it made sense to the district to move 7th & 8th grade students into those classrooms to better assist these two grades with transitioning to high school from elementary.

"We wanted a way for them to feel comfortable coming to the high school campus while still having a little bit of that elementary feel. We think this will help them assimilate better, rather than roaming through the high school with the seniors," Principal Dr. Peter Maggio said.

Total cost for the building was $1,469,575, "It was a big investment and I know this facility will serve the students of Spring Hill for decades to come," Wilson said.

It is a beautiful addition to the campus, inside and out. The 7th & 8th grade students lined up across the front of the building were really excited about their new space. Smiles were in abundance as the ribbon was finally cut and the kids ran back into their brand new classrooms.
