Spring Hill NHS Students Host Community Coffee

The Spring Hill High School National Honor Society members and one Beta Club member hosted a community coffee this week at the Chamber of Commerce. The students and their Advisor, Lori Chambless were present welcoming guests to the event.

Beta Club is a nation wide organization that recognizes and encourages outstanding high school students in grades 10 through 12 and challenges them to develop further through activities within the school and community. To be a member of Beta Club you must hold a cumulative GPA of 3.25 and NHS members must be a senior and keep a 3.5 GPA throughout the year and there are some other requirements like doing community service, showing leadership skills and being in good character.

The Spring Hill High School chapter was enthused about hosting the event. "Thank you all for coming out today to join us. I am so proud of my students and I know they will do great things," said Chambless. "We take part in a lot of service projects for example this coffee where we try to get involved in the community. For Christmas, we buy gifts for elementary students in need, and give them the gifts anonymously. In the past we have donated money to families in the community for health and safety reasons and to Red Cross for help after natural disasters. We also do an annual can food drive and try to help out with the Hope in Action food Pantry," Chambless shared. After introducing each of the students Chambless thanked everyone again for coming and invited them to enjoy the food.
