It's that time of year again! Everyone is gearing up for some firework fun to celebrate the Fourth of July weekend! Whether you are planning to have the greatest pyrotechnic display your neighborhood has ever seen or just grabbing a few sparklers and bottle rockets to dazzle the kiddos, SWARK.Today would like to remind our readers to stay safe. Before beginning the ceremonies, here are a few safety tips to keep the celebrations free from harm.
Use a large, flat area cleared of any debris for staging your fireworks. Avoid areas near homes, dry grass, and other people.
Keep water close by ( a hose or filled bucket will do)
Keep your pets indoors with a distraction if possible
Always follow the directions on the fireworks label
Kids - Have adult supervision always, even with sparklers! (They can burn from 1200 to 2000 degrees!)
Do not wear loose clothing and get protective eyewear if you can
Light only one firework at a time and move away quickly to a safe distance
Do not hold lit fireworks in your hand
Never try to re-light the duds or any firework that malfunctions
Soak duds and spent fireworks in water and let them sit awhile before disposing of them
Never light fireworks in a metal or glass container (it could cause an explosion and shrapnel)
Do not carry fireworks in your pocket
Do not use illegal fireworks or try to make your own
SWARK.Today wishes you all a safe and happy holiday!
