SWEPCO issues Requests for Proposals for purchase of wind and solar generation resources

SHREVEPORT, La., September 29, 2022 – Southwestern Electric Power Co. (SWEPCO), a subsidiary of American Electric Power (Nasdaq: AEP), today issued two Request for Proposals (RFPs) for renewable energy resources to supply the needs of its customers.

The RFPs solicit bids for the purchase of wind resources of up to 1,900 megawatts (MW) and solar resources up to 500 MW. Wind resources must be a minimum of 100 MW and solar resources must be a minimum of 50 MW. All projects must interconnect to the Southwest Power Pool (SPP) and be located in Arkansas, Louisiana, Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas or Missouri. 

Proposals are due by November 17, 2022. Response and contact information are available online at SWEPCO.com/rfp. Proposals selected from the two RFPs are subject to appropriate regulatory approvals.
