HOPE, Ark. — Mahjong enthusiasts and community supporters are invited to save the date for the 2nd Annual Mahjong for a Mission, a fundraiser benefiting The CALL in Hempstead and Nevada Counties. The event will take place Thursday, August 27, at The Studio and Events, located at 113 S. Elm Street in Hope.
Sponsored by First United Methodist Church of Hope, the event offers an opportunity to enjoy a day of Mahjong while making a meaningful difference for local children and families impacted by foster care.
Participants may choose from two playing sessions:
Afternoon Session: 1:00–3:30 p.m.
Evening Session: 6:00–8:30 p.m.
Whether you're an experienced Mahjong player or just getting started, there's a place for you. Open play tables will be available for those familiar with the game, and a limited number of Learner Tickets will give newcomers the chance to learn one of the fastest-growing social games in the country while supporting a great cause.
All tickets include refreshments and opportunities to win door prizes. Attendees are also encouraged to bring cash to participate in a raffle featuring additional prizes.
Proceeds from Mahjong for a Mission directly benefit The CALL, helping provide practical support, resources, and encouragement to children and families impacted by foster care throughout Hempstead and Nevada counties. Through the generosity of the community, The CALL recruits, trains, and supports foster and adoptive families while mobilizing local churches to care for vulnerable children.
"Mahjong is creating an incredible sense of community, and we're excited First United Methodist Church is putting on this event to bring people together for a day of fun with purpose," said Holli Boyett, Affiliate Director of The CALL. "Every ticket purchased helps provide hope and support to children and families right here in our community."
