Hope-Hempstead County Chamber of Commerce
Press Release
March 1, 2022
The Board of Directors for the Hope-Hempstead County Chamber of Commerce have
announced their selection of Christy Burns as the organization’s next Executive Director
effective March 14, 2022.
Chamber Board President Nathaniel Holyfield stated “Christy has served on the Chamber Board
of Directors for the past several years and been a Chamber volunteer for 11 years. We are very
proud to appoint her to this position with the Chamber and look forward to a very successful
future.”
Burns began her role at the Chamber in 2011 as a member of the Contact Committee and
continued to serve as the Ambassador Coordinator for the years to follow until she became an
Executive Board member moving her way into the President position in 2020.
“I could never imagine myself not being a part of the Chamber, so when this position became
available I knew it would give me the opportunity to continue my service to the Chamber and
the community full-heartedly," Burns said.
She spoke about the pandemic and how it has made us stronger. "The Covid pandemic has brought us closer together as a community and I know we can all move forward together, helping one another as we at the Chamber develop solutions to new problems the businesses will face moving forward."
Burns would also like to thank her predecessor, Beckie Moore, for her leadership and friendship
over the past 5 years and wishes her the best of luck in the future. Lastly, she sends very
humble appreciation to her family, friends, the Chamber Boards of past and present, Chamber
volunteers and her community.
