Volley Saints Win Silver Division Championship
Hot Springs- The Lady Saints got off to a slow start this weekend as they dropped all three pool games. Once bracket play began, GMCS turned it on and knocked out two of the teams that beat them in pool play (SCA & Gospel Light). SCA in the semis of the Silver Bracket, then carried the momentum into the finals against Gospel Light to secure the Silver Bracket title winning 25-16, 23-25, 25-14. The Volley Saints have played very well the last couple of weekends as they gear up for a deep run in the playoffs and State Tourney.

Pool play started off with a match against the host team, Gospel Light. GMCS would drop the opening set 25-17, won the next set 25-22 to set up a final set to determine the match. Gospel Light would win 15-12 to hand the Lady Saints the loss. Mikayla Fields was a monster at the net with 9 kills,  Charity Zumwalt had 4 aces, Gracy Martin had 2 kills, and Tori Mitchell had 2 aces. The next match in pool play was against SCA, and defeated the Volley Saints in straight sets, 25-8, 25-14. Charity Zumwalt and Tori Mitchell each had an ace, and Gracy Martin had an ace and 1 kill. GMCS would lose to ACA 25-10, 25-11 with Silbi Jones having 2 kills and Mikayla Fields and Addy Peek each having 1 kill.

Bracket play began with the Volley Saints taking on SCA in a rematch from earlier in the day and GMCS would win when it mattered the most, advancing to the finals. GMCS won 25-18, 21-25, 25-14, as Mikayla Fields had 6 aces and 6 kills to lead the Volley Saints. Charity Zumwalt played another good game with 3 kills, 2 aces, Silbi Jones had 7 aces and 2 kills, Gracy Martin had 3 aces and 1 kill, with Kynlee Glass having 4 aces and 1 kill. GMCS would get their rematch with Gospel Light, GMCS would win the first set 25-16, but Gospel Light would fight back to take the 2nd set to even the match. In the final set, GMCS got going early and wound up winning the deciding set 25-14. Mikayla Fields had 6 aces and 3 kills. Gracy Martin had 4 aces and 3 kills, Baylee Pogue had 6 aces and a kill, Silbi Jones had another great game with 5 kills and 3 aces. Kynlee Glass earned an ace. Coach Rook was proud of how the girls fought through a lot of back-to-back games early to win the Silver Division Championship. GMCS is back in action Tuesday when they travel to face NLCA.
