One of the charms of living in our two-county coverage area is the number of Independence Day Week Fireworks to choose from. Starting tonight after dark at Prescott High School's Wolf Stadium, you'll see the first crackling red white and blue explosions this week.
If you don't get your fill there, on Friday evening you can either head to Blevins, where the show starts in the location of the school after dark, or there's the field south of Fireman's Park and west of the old school complex, where a show gets going when the skies go black.
The biggest event is on Saturday at the Hope Municipal Airport when the gates open after five p.m. on a show that includes a reading of the Declaration of Independence by Bonnie Raff starting at 5:45. Then, from the same stage, Night Hawk Band gets going at 6:00, followed at 7:35 by the debut of Miller County Line.
The fireworks usually get going about 9:00 p.m. accompanied by patriotic music from multiple genres. If you see me, say hello.
