The line began early today at the 8th Annual Crawfish & Shrimp Boil held by the Prescott-Nevada County Chamber of Commerce at the Nevada County Farmers Market. With great spring weather and Cajun tunes to accompany the meal, participants of all ages were lined across the parking lot before starting time, all eager to grab their spicy supper. Lagniappe Specialty Meats from Texarkana supplied and cooked 130 lb of shrimp, 330 lb of crawfish, 250 lb of corn cobs, and 150 lb of potatoes, while Chamber members served the food. Hurricane Henry's Shaved Ice was also on the scene for those who wished to grab a sweet treat to go with dinner.

Even with to-go options available, many attendees, of all ages and from all over, stayed on site to enjoy their meals and visit with fellow citizens. Debbie Sullivan and her family, from Cabot, said they saw the event announcement on Facebook and decided to travel to Prescott for the event to have crawfish and celebrate her sons' birthdays today. They were pleased with outcome. At the next table, young Coy Cornelius said he was happy to chow down on the shrimp. Even a few candidates for the upcoming election turned up to sample the savory feast and visit with members of the community.

All attendees appeared to enjoy the fun, food, and fellowship (except the few crawfish caught trying to escape), making it easy to see why this event has grown each year since it began and why participants from all over line up early to get a plate of crawfish and shrimp with all the trimmings. .
