Dylan Carter out for Season

FAYETTEVILLE -- Another day, another Razorbacks baseball player seeing his season end due to injury.

The latest is redshirt sophomore right-handed pitcher Dylan Carter. He announced the news on social media Wednesday.

“Razorback Nation: It is with a heavy heart that I announce my 2023 season has come to an end due to a UCL tear. This season has been nothing short of amazing and our teams season isn’t over yet. I will be the best teammate and supporter as we finish up the season and begin our run to Omaha. #31”

Dave Van Horn had hinted at bad news when asked about Carter's injury following Tuesday night's loss to Lipscomb.

"Yeah, it's not good," Van Horn said. "That's all I'm going to leave it at. It's not good."

Carter played high school baseball at Bentonville West. He also attended Crowder College in Missouri. This season in 16 appearances, all out of the bullpen, Carter had a record of 6-0 with an ERA of 3.65 and earned two saves in 37 innings of work. 

Carter is the third pitcher to be loss for the season. Jaxson Wiggins and Koty Frank also are out. The Hogs are also battling injuries with position players such as Tavian Josenberger, Jared Wegner and Peyton Stovall. Josenberger and Wegner are expected back at some point this season while Stovall has continued to play through injuries best he can. 

Arkansas (33-12, 14-7) will be at Mississippi State this weekend for a three-game series. The Friday and Saturday games begin at 6 p.m. and then 1 p.m. on Sunday.
