Lady Wolves Drop Close Game to Dumas 2-0

Lance Hawley

Genoa- Coach Godwin and the Lady Wolves traveled to Genoa for the Regional Tournament Thursday for a matchup with a #1 seed Dumas. Lainey Robbins and the Prescott defense did an extraordinary job Thursday limiting the opposing team to just 2 runs and making great defensive plays. Lainey Robbins pitched great, allowing just 4 hits while striking out 4 batters and issuing zero walks, while pitching to a lot of soft contact. Offensively the Lady Wolves had a tough task as the pitcher from Dumas did a good job throughout the game as well. Kadence Formby led the way for Prescott with 2 singles, Lilly McKinnon, Harlee Faulkner, and Kyla Joseph each managed a single for the Lady Wolves. Prescott would drop the game 2-0, ending their season, a very successful season as they advanced to the Regional Tourney for the first time in a very long time. The girls improved a great amount throughout the season and Coach Godwin was very proud of how the girls showed up and played. Lainey Robbins and the Lady Wolves defense were excellent down the stretch as they only allowed 4 runs combined in their last 17 innings. Kailee Reese, Lilly McKinnon, and Tori Franklin were the 3 seniors on this Lady Wolves squad that reached the Regional Tourney and Coach Godwin marveled at how vital and important these three seniors were to this team. Prescott softball is trending upwards and they all look forward to aiming at another trip to Regionals and beyond next season.
